[indianisch], Họkkos, Cracidae, Familie 0,4-1 m langer, meist auf Bäumen lebender und nistender Hühnervögel mit fast 50 Arten in den Wäldern Mittel- und Südamerikas; relativ hochbeinig, mit ziemlich langem Schwanz. Zu den Hokkohühnern gehören u. a. Schakuhühner (Guans, Penelopini) und das Mituhuhn (Mitu mitu).
